The Hanoi Power Corporation approved a schedule of power cuts in many parts across the capital city that started affecting residents on Sunday.

A representative of the corporation said that some lines and substations were overloaded.

The power cuts were announced following the city’s year-high consumption of 83.345 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity on May 17, with the electricity sector asking residents for power saving.

Temporary power interruption occurred from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday in parts of the Xuan Tao and Duc Thang Wards, the Cau Dien housing project area located down Alley 332 on Hoang Cong Chat Street, and the Duc Dien 2 residential group in Phuc Dien Ward of Bac Tu Liem District.

On the same day, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, there was a power outage in Co Nhue 1 Ward in the same district.

On Monday, the A1 and A2 apartment buildings in An Binh City endured a power blackout from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, while the A4 and A5 buildings within the same apartment project were subjected to an electricity cut-off from 1:45 pm to 4:30 pm.

From 4:00 am to 10:00 am, a part of the My Dinh 2 urban area in Nam Tu Liem District had a blackout.

The power disruption hit many areas in the center of the city such as the Hanoi Heart Hospital on Tran Hung Dao Street in Hoan Kiem District from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Residents connected to the Tue Tinh 2 and O Dong Mac 6 stations in Hai Ba Trung District went without electricity from 1:00 am to 10:00 am on Sunday and 1:00 am to 10:00 am on Monday, respectively.

The issue affected Alleys 56 and 84 on Tran Quang Dieu Street, and Alleys 95 and 113 on Hoang Cau Street in Dong Da District from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Monday.
