Central college hosts exhibition on Vietnam’s Hoang Sa archipelago

The external affairs department of a city in central Vietnam organized an exhibition on Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago at a local university on Thursday.

Da Nang City’s Department of Foreign Affairs held the event, titled “Hoang Sa Archipelago – Vietnam’s Sovereignty” at the College of Foreign Languages under the University of Da Nang, with support from the People’s Committee of Hoang Sa District and a city museum.

Over 50 pictures, documents, maps, and objects were on display at the exhibition, 12 documents of which were publicized for the first time to prove Vietnam’s ownership of the islands.

The exhibition boasted many documents and maps, published almost 100 years ago by the Chinese government, that show China’s southernmost territory stretches as far as Hainan Island.

These ascertain again that China absurdly and illegally occupies as well as claims Vietnam’s Hoang Sa.

They are very important documentation for thousands of students – including majors in English, French, Chinese, and international relations – to confirm to the world that Hoang Sa belongs to Vietnam, according to Associate Professor Phan Van Hoa, president of the college.

The organizers said three more such exhibitions will be organized at Da Nang universities this year.

Hoang Sa is a district administered by Da Nang City.
