Vietnam’s leading dairy producer Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Co (VNM), better known as Vinamilk, has been given the green light to export its products to the US market, making it the first Vietnamese dairy company to do so.
Accordingly, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the registration number to Vinamilk, coded VNM on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, so that it can export products to the US at any time.
In addition, FDA has full right to inspect VNM’s plants irregularly and randomly.
After the news about the FDA’s licensing for the firm released, VNM share rose VND4,000 per share, or 3.1 percent, day on day. The share slipped VND1,000 (0.8 percent) on the previous day.
VNM inaugurated a baby milk factory in Vietnam with a total investment value of VND2 trillion ($94 million) in late April this year.
Besides 12 establishments in Vietnam, Vinamilk also has an investment in New Zealand, a 1:4 joint venture with the local Miraka Co in the $90 million Miraka plant that was put into operation in 2011.
It exports dairy products to 26 countries around the world including Canada, France and Germany.
From early 2013 until now, VNM export revenues reached more than $92 million, making up 40 percent of its 2013 export revenue’s forecast of over $230 million.
