Finnish handset maker Nokia on Monday officially inaugurated its very first Vietnam facility – a mobile phone manufacturing plant in the northern Quang Ninh Province.
The US$302 million plant broke ground in April 2012, and has in fact begun operation since June, but not at its full capacity.
Once operating in full swing, the facility is capable of producing up to 45 million products per quarter, and generating some 10,000 jobs.
Most of the plant’s products will be exported, according to Nokia.
There are currently 25,000 employees working at the plant that spans of 65,400 square meters at the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park.
Nokia is the third world-famous handset manufacturer to set up a phone making plant in Vietnam, after Samsung and LG.
