The Ministry of Public Security has asked construction officials in Dong Nai Province, located in southern Vietnam, to transfer documents regarding 29 projects claimed to be developed by a local company for an investigation into their suspicious signs.

A source from the Dong Nai Department of Construction told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday that they had received a dispatch from the ministry, which demanded paperwork related to projects carried out in the province by Alibaba, a Vietnamese real estate corporation.

Police are probing Alibaba for irregularities in land sales, according to the dispatch.

Alibaba is offering to sell land plots in 29 projects in Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, and Xuan Loc Districts, all located in Dong Nai, police said.

The construction department was required to submit all documents related to the projects to the ministry.

The provincial People’s Committee says Alibaba has offered to sell land plots in the 29 projects, 27 of which are located in Long Thanh District, for the last two years.

All of the projects have never been approved by relevant agencies in Dong Nai.

The 29 projects include:

Alibaba Central Park, Alibaba Central Park II, Alibaba Central Park III in Phuoc Binh Commune, Long Thanh District

Alibaba An Phuoc in An Phuoc Commune, Long Thanh District

Alibaba Phuoc Thai Capital in An Phuoc Commune, Long Thanh District

Alibaba Bau Can Riverside in Bau Can and Tan Hiep Communes, Long Thanh District

Long Phuoc 1 to 16, Long Phuoc Golden Point, Long Phuoc Golden Point 2, Lilama International Residential Area, Alibaba Long Thanh Capital, and Long Phuoc Residence in Long Phuoc Commune, Long Thanh District

Ali Aqua Nhon Trach in Long Tho Commune, Nhon Trach District and Ali Mega Xuan Loc in Xuan Hung Commune, Xuan Loc District.

Alibaba was established on May 5, 2016 with four people and a charter capital of VND100 million (US$4,300), it says on its website.

The charter capital has risen to VND5,500 billion ($241 million), according to the website.

The company’s vision is becoming Southeast Asia’s biggest real estate corporation in 2023.

Its main office is now situated at 321 Dien Bien Phu Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City.
