Vietnamese carrier Pacific Airlines is set to resume air services from June 26, using only one aircraft provided by Vietnam Airlines (VNA).
This is one of the three aircraft that Pacific Airlines leases from the national flag carrier.
Pacific Airlines said that it had informed the national aviation authority and relevant agencies of the planned resumption.
Air services offered by Pacific Airlines will be available on six routes linking local destinations including Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Chu Lai, Thanh Hoa, and Vinh.
Previously, Pacific Airlines temporarily ceased operations from March 16, returning all of the leased A320s to its lessors to wipe off US$220 million of its debt.
It also reported to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam that it would lease three Airbus A321s from VNA to meet the minimum requirement for an airline to keep its license and return unused landing and take-off slots.
Pacific Airlines was established in 1991 as Vietnam’s first low-cost air carrier.
In 2007, Australian airline Qantas acquired a 30-percent stake in Pacific Airlines and renamed it Jetstar Pacific Airlines.
Vietnam's State Capital Investment Corporation transferred 68 percent of its holding at Jetstar Pacific Airlines to Vietnam Airlines in 2012 and its name was returned to Pacific Airlines.
After Qantas gave all of its 30-percent stake in the budget carrier as a gift to Vietnam Airlines in October 2020, the latter holds a nearly-99-percent stake in the airline.
