A cable car line in Vietnam has been listed among the world’s top amazing cable car systems by a well-known British newspaper, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Monday on its website.

The 5km, 30 million euro (US$39 million) Ba Na cable car line, located in the central city of Da Nang, was incorporated in The Telegraph’s list of the world’s top ten amazing cable car systems.

The system which links Vong Nguyet Hill and Ba Na Mountain can carry around 1,500 visitors per hour.

It won four Guinness world records in 2013 for the longest non-stop single track cable car, with a total length of 5,771.61m, the highest non-stop single cable car with a height difference of 1,368.93m, the longest single cable with a total length of 11,587m, and the heaviest cable reel with a weight of 141.24 tonnes.

The Ba Na cable car line, which was jointly built by Austria’s Doppelmayr Cable Car firm and Switzerland’s CWA Constructions Company, became fully operational on March 29, on the occasion of Da Nang City’s 38th anniversary of liberation.

The system, which can carry 1,500 visitors per hour at six meters per second, has a total of 86 cabins which can accommodate ten people each.

There will be another cable car to be built, connecting the sleepy hill station of Sapa in Vietnam’s northwestern Lao Cai Province with the top of Mount Fansipan, Indochina’s tallest peak, according to The Telegraph.

The three-wire, 7km-long cable car system, which is the first of its kind in Vietnam and Asia, is expected to be completed in 2015. The system is designed with the maximum transport capacity of 2,000 people per hour and each cabin can carry 35 passengers.

Besides Ba Na, other impressive cable cars listed by The Telegraph included Switzerland’s Klein Matterhorn, South Africa’s Cape Town, Venezuela’s Merida, New Zealand’s Queenstown, and Canada’s Banff.
