-- About 200 kilograms of dead, rotting fish were found washed ashore in a one kilometer stretch of beach in Ky Anh District in the north-central province of Ha Tinh on Thursday, with local officials saying the fish had been dead for three or four days.

-- Scientists at Vietnam National Institute of Oceanography, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hong Long, had just published their study on renovation for the bay of Nha Trang City in south-central Vietnam, which will include creating new, artificial beaches along with preserving the local natural beaches.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is looking to welcome up to seven million foreign tourists in 2017 after attracting 5.2 million international travelers last year, outperforming its target of five million, experts said at a meeting on Thursday between city officials and local travel agencies.

-- Nearly 67,000 people have been scammed off a total of over VND2 trillion ($89.3 million) by Lien Ket Viet, a pyramid-scheme company that posed itself as being founded and run by high-ranking former military officers, according to investigation reports by Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security.

-- Vietnam’s annual GDP growth is expected to maintain a steady rise of over 6.3 percent until 2019, due largely to domestic consumers’ demand and the overall development of the export-oriented manufacturing and processing industry, according to latest World Bank reports.

-- Vietnam’s draft Law on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has been denounced as illusory and impracticable by the country’s businesses, who criticize its provisions which set universal standards for companies across different fields.
