An hour-long downpour flooded several streets and houses in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday evening.
The inundation happened on such streets as To Ngoc Van, Linh Dong, Vo Van Ngan, Provincial Highway 43 in Thu Duc District, and Nguyen Van Khoi and Pham Van Chieu in Go Vap District.
Some sections on To Ngoc Van Street were submerged by rainwater, which rose as high as the seats of some motorbikes, while Linh Dong Street was 0.5 meters underwater, causing traffic congestion.
Traffic police officers were present on the streets to direct vehicles and people wading through the water.
Rainwater also flooded several houses along Provincial Highway 43 and Linh Dong Street.
Friday was not the first time households living on these two streets suffered from such inundation, according to local people, with the flood often receding only after midnight.
