Nearly 1,500 people partake in fire drill at mPlaza Saigon

A fire drill took place at the mPlaza Saigon building in downtown Ho Chi Minh City on Friday morning, involving 1,450 people and 100 vehicles.

The hypothetical situation for the drill unfolded when an electrical problem triggered a petrol leak from a car parked at basement B2 of the building, causing a blaze at 9:00 am.

After discovering the flames, relevant forces swiftly took action to contain the fire, rescue victims, and instruct workers and customers inside the block to escape from the blaze.

In the hypothetical scenario, some 3,000 people were working, shopping, and staying in the mPlaza Saigon building.

They got into a state of panic as they could not find ways to get out of the burning building due to dense smoke.

After being notified of the fire and explosion at the high-rise, Duong Ngoc Hai, vice-chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, directed relevant units and the High Command of Ho Chi Minh City to work with the municipal Department of Public Security to dispatch forces and vehicles to the scene of the inferno for firefighting and rescue operations.

After 45 minutes of the close collaboration between relevant forces in response to the fire and explosion, the flames were put out.
