Vietnamese forward Huynh Nhu has opted to extend her contract with Portuguese club Lank FC Vilaverdense for an additional year, ensuring her presence for the 2023-24 season.
The extension was included in Nhu’s previous contract with Lank FC Vilaverdense, who chose to activate this clause due to their contentment with the Vietnamese player’s performance.
Last season, she netted seven goals and completed two successful passes across all competitions while representing Lank FC Vilaverdense.
The specific raise in Nhu’s salary has not been revealed, but football experts expect it to exceed the 1,500 euros (US$1,627) per month she earned in the previous season.
Nhu, 32, made her debut for the first team of the Ho Chi Minh City I football club at the age of 17, amassing seven national championships.

She presently serves as the captain of Vietnam’s national women’s team and has secured four gold medals in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, in addition to qualifying for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
She is the first Vietnamese female player to play in European football by signing a contract with Lank FC Vilaverdense in August 2022.
The Portuguese club allowed her to participate in the 32nd SEA Games in May in Cambodia, where she clinched a gold medal, despite the fact that the tournament was not included in the FIFA Days and the club was not obligated to release their players.
At the recent 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in New Zealand and Australia, Nhu and the Vietnamese national women’s team encountered defeat in all three group-stage matches without scoring any goals.
However, their unwavering determination earned them admiration both at home and overseas.
