Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc invited Shanghai firms to increase investment and do long-term business in Vietnam, on the occasion of his visit to the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in the city.
Within the framework of his visit, PM Phuc had a meeting with Mayor of Shanghai Ying Yong on Monday.
He welcomed companies from Shanghai, especially those in high-tech and logistics, to Vietnam for sustainable business during the meeting.
On the other hand, the leader expected that Shanghai would assist Vietnamese firms in joining the CIIE and pushing the availability of Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery products in the markets of Shanghai and, more broadly, China.
He told Mayor Ying that Vietnam greatly values the development and enhancement of friendly neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation with China.
The PM affirmed the Southeast Asian country favors the exchange and cooperation with Chinese localities, including Shanghai.
He asked Shanghai to make progress in the existing cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City and increase visits at all levels between the two cities.
Phuc suggested the Chinese city actively study the expansion of new cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and localities, especially in the fields where Shanghai has strengths and Vietnam has demand.
PM Phuc applauded Shanghai for holding people-to-people exchanges with Vietnamese localities and assisting Vietnam in personnel training.
Ying, for his part, said that China treasures the traditional friendship and mutually beneficial collaboration with Vietnam.
He expressed his wish to expand coordination with Vietnamese localities to push forward the effective and practical development of bilateral economic trade and tourism ties, contributing to strengthening the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
