FPT Software, a leading Vietnamese tech company, has joined IBM and three other IT giants to become the early adopters of the Skywise Partner Program, an initiative by Airbus to develop applications for airlines and the aviation industry around the world.

The signing agreement for the Skywise Partner Program was held by Airbus on the sidelines of the 53rd Paris Airshow on Wednesday, with the other three signatories being Ireland’s Accenture and two French-based companies - Capgemini and Sopra Steria.

Skywise, launched in mid-2017, is a digital, hyper-connected and secure data platform that enables users to optimize and predict everything from engineering and maintenance to flight operations.

It has since then been used by as many as 80 airlines around the world and is expected to welcome dozens more on board by the end of this year.

A Skywise certified partner will have access to the working space and to additional features on the platform, so that it can develop more robust, richer applications on behalf of an airline that uses Skywise services, according to Airbus.

Airbus chose certified partners for its program based on a number of criteria, including global presence, familiarity with Skywise technology, high-quality human resources, existing business with airlines, and existing business relationships with it.

FPT Software has formed strong partnership with the European aircraft maker since 2017 as the two companies signed a letter of intent to strengthen the development of Skywise ecosystems in Asia.

Over the past two years, the Vietnamese company has helped Airbus to gather, standardize, and integrate data of more than 30 airlines into the Skywise platform.

“FPT Software is proud to stand alongside IBM, Accenture, Capgemini, and Sopra Steria to shape the future of aviation,” said FPT Software’s chairman Hoang Nam Tien.

According to the chairman, his software engineers are working round the clock to “develop and deploy Skywise applications for airlines around the world.”

FPT Software, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation, Vietnam’s leading IT services provider, boasts a portfolio of over 600 customers worldwide that use its technology and software services.
