National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on Friday that its telephone check-in service will be available for passengers of domestic flights from Hanoi starting on September 15, five months after it was launched for flights from Ho Chi Minh City.
People flying domestically with Vietnam Airlines from Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport will be able to select their seats over the phone from tomorrow.
Noi Bai is the second airdrome in Vietnam that Vietnam Airlines has rolled out its telephone check-in service to.
The flag carrier launched the service for flights from the Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat Airport in April and has so far remained the first and only provider of this check-in option in the Southeast Asian country.
Customers can call the hotline 1900 6265 from 12 hours to two hours prior to the departure time for the easy and quick check-in.
The hotline is not toll-free and callers are charged VND5,000 (US$0.21) per minute.
Online boarding passes can be sent to passengers’ e-mail addresses after they finish checking in over the phone, while hard copies can be picked up at check-in counters at Noi Bai International Airport.
Vietnam Airlines said that it has received nearly 3,000 phone calls to the hotline, with about 1,000 passengers using the service since its introduction.
In addition to the phone check-in service, passengers also have a wide range of options for the check-in, including online check-in via the website, mobile app, and check-in kiosks, telephone check-ins, and in-town check-in sites.
The operation of these check-in services is expected to help reduce pressure on such busy airports as Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat during peak times.
