After restoring flight operations on all 45 domestic air routes, Vietnam’s low-cost carrier Vietjet Air has announced a massive deal offering three million air tickets that cost as little as VND18,000 (US$0.77).

A representative of Vietjet Air said on Sunday that the carrier had put all of its 45 domestic flight routes back in service to catch up with the recovering demand for both business and leisure travels after a long haul dealing with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Vietjet also took the occasion to launch a sales promotion campaign signature to the budget carrier: Three million tickets will be made available at the insanely low price of VND18,000 (taxes, fees and surcharges not included).

This deal is open to all bookings made between May 11 and 16 for domestic flights departing from May 12 until December 31, 2020.

In April, Vietjet had unveiled its supreme Power Pass, which allows its holder to board unlimited flights within Vietnam on the carrier’s network of 45 domestic routes with 300 daily flights.

Each Power Pass comes with a 100 percent discount on ticket prices — excluding taxes, fees, and additional add-on services, if any — and 15 kilograms of checked baggage and 7kg of hand luggage completely free of charge.

Power Pass holders also enjoy the right to unlimited flight rescheduling, requiring only a fee of VND100,000 (US$4.3) for each instance of schedule change.

Launched in 2011, Vietjet Air was the first low-cost carrier in Vietnam and has since retained its leading position in the country’s cheap flights segment.

The firm reported a 29.6-percent revenue loss in the first quarter of 2020 due to the slump in aviation and tourism caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
