Mai Wedding, a major wedding photography service provider in Da Nang, central Vietnam, suddenly shut down earlier this week, worrying many couples as their important days are approaching.

Many couples who have signed contracts and paid tens of millions of dong (VND10 million = US$414) for wedding photo packages are now worried about losing their money following the sudden closure of Mai Wedding.

Those whose wedding days are just around the corner have to promptly seek other studios to make sure they have the best wedding photos and outfits on the big day.

Ut, a customer of Mai Wedding, said she had signed a contract and made advance payment for a package including photoshoots before the wedding and during her wedding reception.

Despite not having much money to spare, Ut and her husband had decided to spend big for their wedding day and chose a famous and high-quality service such as Mai Wedding.

The couple had their pre-wedding photoshoot two days ago but have not received any images so far.

They managed to contact an employee of Mai Wedding but she could not provide any assistance.

Ut said she is looking for another service for her pre-wedding and wedding reception photoshoots as her wedding day is only half a month away.

Similarly, Thuy Vi said she had paid Mai Wedding VND15 million ($621) out of VND23 million ($953) for her wedding photography service package.

Vi has contacted Mai Wedding but no solutions have been negotiated.

In their posts on the official Facebook page of Mai Wedding on Thursday, several employees extended their apologies to customers, adding that they were also the victims for not getting paid for one and a half months.

They made every effort to retrieve the original image files for customers who had had their photoshoots prior to October 10 and send them to hundreds of customers.

Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters tried to contact the phone numbers of Mai Wedding’s stores, but no one picked up.

A police official in Hai Chau District in central Da Nang City said the police unit has not received any reports about the case from relevant parties.

Mai Wedding is the largest wedding photography service in Da Nang, with multiple branches and stores in other central provinces such as Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, and Quang Binh.

The services of Mai Wedding are considered high-end and often very costly.
