Several Indian travel companies are actively exploring opportunities to promote tourism in Da Lat City and Lac Duong District, which are located in Lam Dong Province of Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

The firms expressed their keen interest at a seminar on cooperation in tourism development between India and Lam Dong held on Tuesday by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City.

Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, noted that traveling to Vietnam has become popular among Indians while Vietnamese people have been visiting India to learn about its culture.

Amid this trend, a significant number of Indian travel agencies, including Shashi Travels & Tours PVT Ltd, have set their sights on tourist hotspots in Lam Dong, such as Da Lat City and Lac Duong District.

Amit Kumar, sales director of Shashi Travels & Tours PVT Ltd, who has spent years researching Lam Dong, hailed the tourism development potential of the province, whose unique climate and cultural diversity he could not find elsewhere in Vietnam.

Therefore, he aspires to open trips to the Vietnamese province.

For the consumption behavior of Indian tourists, Kumar mentioned that Indians are willing to pay a premium for high-quality experiences and have a culture of recommending places they have visited to family and friends.

Such behavior could prove beneficial to the tourism industry in Lam Dong.

Cil Proh, deputy chairman of Lac Duong, expressed his delight at the Indian tour operators’ plan to launch tours in the district, as many of the district’s popular attractions are frequently mistaken for those in Da Lat.

He expects the upcoming tourism activities conducted by the Indian companies will assist in bolstering connection between Da Lat and the surrounding region in terms of tourism.

In his conclusion, Consul General Sethi recommended that tour operators from both India and Vietnam should hold a meeting soon to brainstorm ideas for collaboration in order to promote trips to the destinations mentioned.

Vietnam welcomed 137,000 Indian tourists in 2022, according to news site VnExpress.
