Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi, Thailand’s box office star, model, screenwriter, and director, is one of the highlights of Thai Festival Hanoi 2025, which kicked off on Friday evening in the Vietnamese capital.

The festival, themed “Creative Thailand: The Pulse of Tradition,” officially opened at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi on Friday evening.

Urawadee Sriphiromya, Thailand’s Ambassador to Vietnam, said in her opening speech that this was the first time the Thai Festival has been held on such a large scale in Hanoi.

This year, the city was chosen as one of six major global cities to host the Thai Festival.

Le Hai Binh, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated that Hanoi’s selection as one of the few global capitals to host the festival highlights the Royal Thai Government’s strong regard for Vietnam, particularly Hanoi.

He emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand are close “brother nations” with many shared cultural values.

Sriphiromya added that during the three-day festival, running from Friday to Sunday, Hanoi residents and visitors from around the world would have the chance to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Thailand, from its diverse cuisine and delicacies to traditional and modern performances, as well as films.

One of the key attractions is the opportunity to experience Songkran, Thailand’s traditional New Year festival and water-throwing celebration, which was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in 2023.

Visitors can also explore the Loy Krathong Lantern Festival via digital platforms.

Music, including traditional dance and performances from various Thai regions, along with SISMA, a girl group representing the modern wave of T-pop, will fill the three-day event with energy.

An outdoor cinema will showcase two popular Thai films: the romantic movie “Love Destiny the Movie” at 6:00 pm on Saturday, and the comedy thriller “404 Run Run” at 6:00 pm on Sunday.

Notably, Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi, the lead actor from “404 Run Run,” will attend the festival to meet fans and participate in interviews from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday.

Dhanasevi, known as Thailand’s ‘box office star,’ gained fame through films such as “Hello Stranger” (2010), “ATM: Er Rak Error” (2012), “One Day” (2016), and the TV series “Rak Jang Oei” (2019).

Visitors to Thai Festival Hanoi 2025 will also have the chance to try on traditional Thai costumes and participate in daily raffles, with valuable prizes such as flight tickets to Thailand.
