The Airport Services Company of Vietnam (ASV), which owns the ASV Airports Taxi brand, signed a contract to rent 500 VinFast electric cars from Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), a subsidiary of Vietnamese multi-sector conglomerate Vingroup, for its airport taxi service on Tuesday.
As per the deal, ASV Airports Taxi will lease 500 VinFast VF e34 cars from GSM, the company that inaugurated Vietnam’s first electric taxi service -- Green SM Taxi -- last month, in order to offer eco-friendly and smart transportation services to customers.
As planned, GSM will deliver the 500 electric vehicles (EV) in phases, with the initial batch of 100 EVs slated to be transferred this month.
The leasing agreement spans a duration of 36 months starting from the delivery date, with the potential for extension depending on actual demand.
ASV’s electric taxi service is projected to commence its official operations later this month and soon be available at major airports such as Noi Bai in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, various companies including Lado, Ahamove, and En Vang, among others, entered into agreements with GSM to introduce electrically-powered passenger transportation services in different cities and provinces nationwide, such as Lam Dong, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Hai Phong, and more.
In March, Be Group, a major player in Vietnam’s ride-hailing market, and GSM inked a deal to convert Be drivers’ petrol vehicles to electric ones.
GSM’s Green SM Taxi is scheduled to launch in Hue City of Thua Thien-Hue Province later this month and expand its presence to at least five cities and provinces, encompassing nearly 20,000 cars throughout the course of this year.
