Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam witnessed a surge in tourism, welcoming an estimated 255,000 visitors during the first six days of the nine-day Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) holiday, marking a 78-percent rise compared to the same period last year.
Both international and domestic visitor numbers saw significant growth, according to a report sent by Nguyen Thanh Hong, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to the provincial administration on Friday.
The number of international visitors improved 84 percent year over year to 115,000, while domestic tourists totaled 140,000, up 55 percent from last year.
Hotel occupancy rates averaged 60 percent, reflecting strong tourism demand.

Tet celebrations in Quang Nam featured a variety of cultural and entertainment activities.
An art show and countdown party to ring in the Year of the Snake held at March 24 Square in Tam Ky City were among the highlights.
Fireworks displays in Tam Ky and Hoi An City added to the festive cheer.

Thanks to sunny and dry weather, major streets in Hoi An like Tran Phu, Chau Thuong Van, Bach Dang, Nguyen Thai Hoc were packed with locals and tourists alike.
Iconic landmarks such as Cau Pagoda and the An Hoi Bridge became popular spots for sightseeing and photography.
Meanwhile, cafés and restaurants along Bach Dang Street remained busy, catering to the influx of visitors.

This year, the Phu Ninh Lake ecotourism area in Phu Ninh District introduced new experiences, attracting a wave of adventure seekers.
Visitors enjoyed boat tours, scenic lake views, and authentic local cuisine, while adrenaline enthusiasts tried high-thrill activities such as zip-lining, quick jumping, high rope courses, and trekking—all making their debut at the site.
Meanwhile, the Hoiana Resort & Golf delighted guests with a spectacular hot air balloon showcase, along with traditional Tet celebrations like lion dance performances, calligraphy displays, a God of Wealth parade, and tea ceremonies to welcome spring.

In related news, tourist arrivals in Phu Yen Province in south-central Vietnam are projected at 114,500 between January 29 and February 2 (from the first to the fifth day of the lunar new year), up nine percent against last year, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Notably, the number of international visitors is expected to soar by 49 percent to 970, while total hotel stays reached 63,700, with an occupancy rate exceeding 60 percent.
Major tourist destinations in Phu Yen drew over 12,770 visitors in the first two days of the lunar new year.
According to Nguyen Le Vu, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, most visitors were domestic tourists from neighboring provinces, with many opting for short trips due to the relatively brief Tet holiday break.
