Hundreds of iPhone fans in Ho Chi Minh City began getting in line at smartphone shops at midnight on Thursday, eagerly awaiting the launch of the new iPhone 16 in Vietnam at 0:01 on Friday.

At around 9:00 pm on Thursday, customers, including locals and foreigners, began lining up outside authorized stores in the southern metropolis, hoping to get their hands on an iPhone 16.

Minh Tuan Mobile stores in downtown Ho Chi Minh City welcomed several celebrities and key opinion leaders (KOLs) waiting to be some of the first to hold an iPhone 16.

A representative of Minh Tuan Mobile said that customers who had preordered an IPhone 16 could receive one at three of its branches in the city just after midnight on Friday.

Similarly, crowds joined a queue at the FPT Shop on Le Loi Boulevard in District 1 at 9:00 pm on Thursday.

After buying the phone, many customers seized the moment to film their unboxing right in the store.

“Customers were interested in improvements on the configuration and color of the iPhone 16 series,” said Nguyen The Kha, trade director at FPT Shop and F.Studio by FPT.

The iPhone handover point of the TopZone – a subsidiary of The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World) – on Khanh Hoi Street in District 4 welcomed throngs of fans on Thursday night.

Despite the rain, these customers were patient and waited to purchase iPhone 16s.

At a CellphoneS store on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street in District 1, crowds filled the venue from midnight to early Friday morning. The iPhone 16 is currently available at all CellphoneS stores in the city.

Another authorized reseller in Vietnam, 24hStore, began handing over iPhone 16s past midnight on Friday to customers who had previously placed pre-orders.

At its handover point on Tran Quang Khanh Street in District 1, 100 VIP customers picked up and unboxed their iPhone 16s.

Apple’s newest iPhones hit the stores in many nations on September 20 and went on sale in Vietnam seven days later.
