Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense has proposed that Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Hue be designated as national air defense priority areas.
The proposal is part of a draft regulation on air defense for the civilian population, outlining the responsibilities of air defense command units, the structure of civilian air defense forces, and the criteria for air defense safety and equipment.
The draft specifies that air defense priority areas are determined based on national strategic defense locations, key infrastructure, and the political, economic, and cultural centers of the country or provinces.
These areas include national political-administrative centers and locations with military and defense significance.
Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Hue meet these criteria.
The draft also details the responsibilities of local authorities at the provincial and grassroots levels, as well as the equipment to be provided to civilian air defense forces, such as anti-aircraft guns, low-altitude missiles, reconnaissance radars, and drones.
Additionally, the draft outlines the roles of military commands, local military agencies, and businesses in supporting the implementation of air defense measures at various levels.
