Vietnamese semiconductor design company Hyphen Deux has formed a strategic partnership with global tech leaders Arm Korea Ltd and CoAsia SEMI to develop AI applications capable of identifying smart city solutions.

The partnership will focus on enhancing video-based monitoring systems to enhance traffic coordination.

According to Bui Duy Khanh, founder and CEO of Hyphen Deux, the company is currently developing an AI chip capable of real-time surveillance camera analysis and the detection of dangerous traffic situations, such as accidents, legal violations, and congestion.

“Our system enables timely action, improving traffic management, reducing traffic-related incidents, and optimizing urban resource utilization,” Khanh elaborated.

The partnership with Arm and CoAsia SEMI is a critical step toward advancing Vietnam’s AI capabilities and building sustainable smart city infrastructure, he added.

SW Hwang, president of Arm Korea, reaffirmed the company’s support for Vietnam, including workforce training and assistance for companies like Hyphen Deux in developing effective AI solutions.

Shin Dong Soo, CEO of CoAsia SEMI, addressed the potential for this partnership to create cutting-edge solutions for smart cities across Vietnam and the broader Southeast Asian region.

The Hyphen Deux – Arm Korea – CooAsia SEMI cooperation is a signal that AI solutions for traffic-related issues are gaining ground.

According to a report released by Capgemini, AI has reduced car dependency, encouraged public transportation use, and alleviated traffic congestion and environmental pollution.

Countries like Singapore and South Korea are leveraging AI to optimize traffic flow and enhance road safety.

While addressing the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum in late September, Nguyen Trung Chinh, board chairman of Vietnamese tech giant CMC Corporation, proposed positioning the city as a global AI hub.

AI is not just a technology but a critical driver of economic growth, Chinh said.

The CMC Corporation leader expressed optimism that Vietnam’s GDP could rise 14 percent by 2030 through effective AI adoption.
