Discovering three schoolchildren in a perilous situation when they fell into a lake in Nam Sach Town under Hai Duong Province, located in northern Vietnam, a local woman performed an act of extraordinary courage to save them last week.

The children, two boys and one girl, were playing in the area when they accidentally slipped into the water on the afternoon of Saturday last week, or the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, an official from the town told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday evening.

It was around 5:00 pm when Nguyen Thi Trang, 50, was out for a walk. Hearing the children’s cries for help, she quickly noticed the situation.

Without a second thought, she sprinted across a guardrail and jumped into the lake to rescue the struggling children.

Trang’s husband and a resident, Nguyen Tri Dung, assisted in pulling the children from the water and bringing them to safety.

Despite Trang’s own health challenges, she bravely entered the lake to save the young lives in danger.

The three children, all relatives, include two fourth-grade students and a seventh-grade student.
