South Korea remained the largest tourism source market of Vietnam in November with close to 400,000 arrivals, followed by mainland China with nearly 340,000 arrivals, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
The rest of Vietnam’s top 10 source markets included Taiwan, Japan, India, the U.S., Cambodia, and Australia.
Data released by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism revealed that international arrivals to Vietnam reached more than 1.7 million last month, representing a 20.5-percent month-on-month increase and a 38.8-percent year-on-year rise.
This also marks the highest monthly total so far this year.
Air travel accounted for the majority of arrivals with 1.4 million visitors, while over 277,000 entered by land and 32,000 by sea.
Tourism experts attributed last month’s growth to the international tourist peak season, which runs from October to March.
European arrivals saw significant growth, led by Poland, which recorded a 330-percent increase versus October.
According to Phi Khuyen, marketing manager at local luxury cruise operator Paradise Vietnam, international tourists opting for cruises in Ha Long Bay, located in northern Quang Ninh Province, have significantly risen since October, with high occupancy rates and frequent early bookings.
From January to November, South Korea remained Vietnam’s largest source market with 4.1 million visitors, accounting for 26 percent of international arrivals.
Overall, Vietnam has welcomed nearly 16 million international tourists in 2024, a 40-percent increase from the same period in 2023, bringing it close to its annual target of 17-18 million visitors.
