Business Insider, a website based in the US, has announced a list of the 18 most extreme cuisines from around the world, including rat and dog meat in Vietnam.

The business and technology site warned that people living in Western countries, who are generally picky with food, will not put them on their plates.

“In Canh Nau, Vietnam, rats were once eaten as a last resort in cases of extreme hunger, but they're now eaten as part of a special dish prepared at the end of each lunar calendar,” it wrote about the rat meat.

The site posted a photo of a dog meat village in southern Vietnam with the caption: “Slaughtered dogs are prepared for sale in Duong Noi, a small village in Vietnam. Dog meat is a common dish in many Eastern Asian nations.”
