Those interested in film making can join the two-day course with Hollywood director Michael Toshiyuki Uno, which will begin in Ho Chi Minh City on Jan 8, 2014.
The course, put on by Saigon International Film School (SIFS), will provide basic knowledge and skills in filmmaking.
The appeal of the course is that students themselves will perform the filmmaking based on Vietnamese and foreign film scripts, including their own ones.
Michael Toshiyuki Uno is a Japanese-American film and television director, who is known for directing television shows including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, China Beach, The Outsiders, Early Edition, and Dawson's Creek.
Apart from his current lecturing job in directing at the University of South California, he also acts in some films. Though he’s not a prolific film director, his works have received high critical acclaim.
Uno was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Live Action Short Film category in 1982 for his film “The Silence”, which depicts American soldiers during the Vietnam War.
