Vietnamese president arrives in Indonesia for state visit

Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon, commencing his state visit to Indonesia at the invitation of President Joko Widodo.
President Phuc and a high-ranking delegation were welcomed at the airport by Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi.
The official welcome ceremony for President Phuc was scheduled to take place on Thursday under the chairmanship of President Widodo.

The two leaders will hold talks and witness the signing of cooperation documents between a number of ministries and sectors.
Next, the two leaders will host a press conference to provide preliminary information on the results of their talks.
The Vietnamese state leader will also meet with speakers of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (lower house) and Regional Representative Council (upper house), as well as leaders of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and a number of major Indonesian enterprises.

On Friday, the last day of his visit, President Phuc will tour the headquarters of the ASEAN Secretariat as well as meet the ASEAN secretary-general and ambassadors and chargé d'affaires of member countries’ delegations.
He will also visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia and meet embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community.
