Newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh on Tuesday presented his credentials to Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, affirming his commitment to strengthening the growing partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.

During their meeting, President Tharman congratulated Ambassador Anh on his new role and extended greetings to Vietnam’s Party and state leaders.

The top Singaporean leader expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive progress in bilateral relations and highlighted Singapore’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Vietnam in clean energy, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, carbon credits, finance, and education.

As both nations are working to elevate their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, President Tharman expressed confidence in Anh’s ability to make significant contributions to this important milestone.

The Vietnamese diplomat shared his aspirations to enhance the flourishing strategic partnership between both countries across various fields, including politics, defense and security, economy, culture, party relations, and people-to-people exchanges.

He pledged to work tirelessly to promote stronger, more substantive collaboration which benefits both nations and contributes to regional and global peace and development.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore on the same day issued a statement welcoming Ambassador Anh and spotlighted his distinguished career.

Prior to his posting in Singapore, Anh served as acting director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations from 2020 to 2021 and then director of this agency.

He began his diplomatic career in 1998 at the same department where he worked as head of the Foreign Service Center from 2008 to 2010.

From 2010 to 2014, he was a counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar.
