Check out Saigon’s under-construction metro system, the first of its kind in the southern metropolis, in these aerial photos taken by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The megaproject, featuring a 17.2-km above-ground section with 11 stops and five special bridges, is 67.4 percent complete, according to the Japan International Cooperation Agency and contractors.
So far, the completed sections of the project meet all quality standards, employing advanced technology never used before in Vietnam, despite geological challenges.
The railway track for the section connecting Ben Thanh in District 1 with Suoi Tien in District 9 is scheduled to be laid in early August.
Five special bridges will be built to support the subway system, the most beautiful of which will be near Van Thanh.
