A VND351 billion (US$15.48 million) bridge is set to be constructed in Can Tho City in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta later this month.

Stretching over 481 meters, the structure will use reinforced concrete and is expected to have a lifespan of 100 years.

The bridge will be designed to accommodate two lanes of traffic, with a maximum speed set as 60km per hour.

The construction will take 22 months, with total expenditure estimated at VND351 billion ($15.48 million).

Quang Trung Bridge will be one of the first bridges in Can Tho employing a fisheries and aquaculture theme, the primary livelihood of the people of the Mekong Delta.

The structure will be comprised of five steel arches, with plants added along its entire length.

As part of the construction of the new Quang Trung Bridge, the old Quang Trung Bridge will also be renovated.
