An agency in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday introduced a smartphone application that allows people to not only obtain information about trade activities but also air their opinions on civil servants’ performance, in a bid to improve its public service quality.
The app, iSCT, which was rolled out by the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, provides information about the local trade activities and administrative procedures, according to the department’s director Pham Thanh Kien.
Users can now ask about trade policies and express the level of their satisfaction with the attitude of public servants without having to come in person to the department’s office.
With iSCT, whose name comes from the agency’s Vietnamese initials, the monitoring of government employees may be more effective, director Kien said.
Making the app available is another step toward better service as 70 out of 107 administrative procedures at the department can now be conducted online via computers, he added.
The app also gives addresses of supermarkets, shopping centers, gas stations, hotels, hospitals and ATMs across the metropolis.
On the same day the trade department presented another app called SaleNOW, which helps people keep themselves updated real-time on the latest sales offered by local firms.
Companies that register with the body can have their products and services advertised in detail on SaleNOW for free.
The app is now available for download for both iOS and Android devices.
