A drug suspect who held his ground inside a pick-up truck loaded with weapons has surrendered after a four-hour standoff with police officers in Ha Tinh Province in north-central Vietnam on Friday.
Ha Tinh police said they pulled over two vehicles on the National Highway 8A at around 3:00 pm following reports that the cars were transporting a large shipment of narcotics.
Only one of the two vehicles followed the order and pulled over, with its driver immediately arrested by officers.
The other vehicle, a white pick-up truck carrying two men, continued to move forward at high speed in an apparent attempt to escape arrest.
As the truck was approaching an intersection, its driver lost control of the vehicle and plunged into a nearby field.
