-- Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, chairwoman of Vietnam’s lawmaking National Assembly, on Monday commenced a five-day official visit to China that is expected to help consolidate political trust and develop the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the countries.

-- More white-collar workers and people with good educational backgrounds are becoming drug addicts in Vietnam, which has more than 222,000 registered narcotic addicts and where the number of drug-related crimes has been growing by 10-13 percent every year since 2015.
-- Ho Chi Minh City is offering incentives of up to VND1 billion (US$43,000) per person for experts, scientists, scholars and talents who make outstanding contributions to the city’s scientific research and technological development.
-- Up to 12,000 metric tons of trash have piled up in Da Nang City of central Vietnam as of 7:00 pm on Sunday after days of residents barricading a road to a local garbage treatment plant to protest against foul smell and pollution.

-- Movitel, a brand of Vietnam’s military-run telecoms giant Viettel in Mozambique, has been appointed by the World Bank (WB) to be the developer of three projects – worth US$20.5 million in total – to improve life quality and access to financing for the poor in the African country.
-- Vietnamese enterprises invested nearly $200 million in foreign countries in the first half of 2019, with Spain leading the list of recipients, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the Vietnamese investment during the period.
