The deadly incident occurred at around 1:30 am at a house on Vo Thi Nho Street in Tan Thuan Dong Ward, District 7, according to preliminary reports.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, Cao Quoc Binh, the ward chairman, stated, adding that the couch on the first floor was the first to catch fire.

The flames then spread to a motorbike and quickly spiraled out of control, while the victims were still asleep on the entresol.

Some local residents noticed the fire and tried to wake up the people inside, but they could not reach them as the house was securely locked.
