The bodies of two fishermen in the south-central Vietnamese province of Quang Binh have been recovered after the siblings were swept away by rough seas on Monday.

The incident happened at 6:00 am on Monday when a fishing boat carrying four local fishermen encountered strong waves about 20 meters offshore, resulting in Tran Duc Tien, 36, being swept away.

Tran Nhu Hoang, 28, a brother of Tien, jumped into the water to find him.

However, Hoang drowned due to the rough conditions.

Other crew members of the boat managed to return to shore safely.

The two victims hailed from Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province, according to a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper source.

The bodies of the two men were found near the scene of the accident on Monday and Tuesday evening and transferred to their family for burial services.
