A man and his two children have been found dead with a suicide note at their home in the northern Vietnamese province of Phu Tho.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Cuong, police chief in Thanh Son District, confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the incident took place at a house in Vo Mieu Commune early on Sunday morning.

The victims have been identified as Tran Minh H., 31, and his two children, seven-year-old Tran Lan A. and six-year-old Tran Bao N., Cuong elaborated.

Officers are working to determine the cause of their deaths, the police official added.

According to an official from the Vo Mieu Commune People’s Committee, H. had an argument with his wife on Saturday night, during which the man forced his wife to go back to her mother’s.

After H.’s wife returned to her mother’s place, H. and his two children were found dead on their bed the following morning.

A suicide note was also discovered near the bodies and is believed to have been written by H..

In the note, the man told his family members to cremate their bodies and mentioned the names of his debtors.

“We suspect that H. murdered his children before committing suicide,” the commune official said.
