A patient died after falling off the sixth floor of a hospital in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam in a suspected suicide.

Nguyen Thi Dien, director of Ha Tinh Rehabilitation Hospital, confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday that a patient had died after falling from the sixth floor of its building.

The patient, 46-year-old V.T.T. from Thach Trung Commune, Ha Tinh City, was admitted to the hospital for stroke treatment over ten days ago, Dien said.

At around 8:30 pm on Sunday, T. left his room on the fourth floor and headed for the sixth floor before falling from the building.

The man was in a critical condition when he was found.

T. was then rushed to Ha Tinh General Hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to his wounds about an hour later.

The patient previously suffered a stroke following an accident, according to Dien.

He had been treated at Ha Tinh Rehabilitation Hospital in separate sessions, each lasting about 15 days.

T. was paralyzed prior to his treatment but was eventually able to walk with a cane.

Doctors said the patient had showed signs of depression for several days, the hospital director continued, adding that T. might have committed suicide.
