An apparently drunk man was caught on camera kicking a woman and hitting her Chinese husband during a road rage incident in Hai Phong, northern Vietnam last weekend.
The incident, which took place at To Hieu-Ho Sen Intersection in Le Chan District, Hai Phong on Saturday evening, was filmed by a bystander and shared on social media.
In the video, a man repeatedly throws punches at another man during what appears to be a road rage incident.
This man later kicks a woman, causing her to hit a motorbike as she falls down.
The man’s violent action received a lot of backlash on social media.
Tran Thuy An, 32, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper over the phone on Sunday that she was the woman getting assaulted in the video clip.
On Saturday evening, An was traveling with her 40-year-old Chinese husband on a motorbike on To Hieu Street when they had a minor collision with another motorcyclist, the woman recalled.
The man began swearing, chased after An and her husband, and attempted to kick their motorbike.
He then blocked the married couple’s way and started attacking them.
“I believe that the man was drunk as I could sense the smell of alcohol from him,” An stated.
“Following the incident, my husband and I had to seek treatment at the hospital.”
An added that she and her husband moved to Vietnam about three years ago.
“We honestly don’t want to make a fuss about this, but the man who attacked us has not apologized ever since,” she continued.
“Therefore, we are going to report the assault to competent authorities.”
A police official in Trai Cau Ward, Le Chan District confirmed that officers are working with relevant individuals to verify the case.
