A woman from Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a bridge on Thursday, leaving behind her six young children.
Nguyen Dang Vinh, chairman of the People’s Committee in Tu Nghia District, Quang Ngai, confirmed on Thursday that local authorities had found the body of 30-year-old Nguyen Thi Thuy.
On the morning of the same day, local residents saw Thuy’s motorbike and sandals on Dap Quanh Bridge and reported to the authorities.
Officers from the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Division under the provincial Department of Public Security, in coordination with other units, later discovered the woman’s body in the river section near the bridge.

Thuy left behind six young children, chairman Vinh said, adding that the youngest of them is only one year old while the eldest is 15.
The official believed that Thuy had committed suicide due to financial problems.
Thuy was in a poor family, he continued, adding that she and her husband did not have a stable job.
Le Thuy, Thuy’s 42-year-old husband, said that he and his wife had talked about their VND12 million (US$510) debt the night before the incident.
The couple was previously required to pay VND200,000 ($8.5) a month, but the amount doubled this month, Thuy elaborated.
Local authorities have provided financial support for the family and are expected to call on benefactors to render further assistance.
