Tour guide raped at bungalow in northern Vietnam

A tour guide was raped by a man while she was sleeping inside a bungalow in Ha Giang Province, northern Vietnam this week.
Police in Hoang Su Phi District, Ha Giang Province confirmed on Wednesday morning that they had apprehended Trieu Ta Menh on rape charges.
Preliminary information showed that Menh sneaked into the room of a female tour guide from Hanoi at Hoang Su Phi Bungalow, located in Thong Nguyen Commune, Hoang Su Phi District, at around 1:30 am on Monday before raping the victim.
Menh is a relative of the owner of the accommodation establishment, according to an official of Thong Nguyen Commune.
The suspect had talked with members of the tourist group led by the Hanoi-based guide during dinner the night before the incident.
“The victim might have been drunk and did not lock the door before going to bed,” the commune official said.
A police official in Hoang Su Phi District stated that an investigation was launched right after the victim reported the incident.
At the police station, Menh admitted to raping the tour guide.
The investigation is ongoing.
