Vietnamese carrier Vietravel Airlines is warning passengers about fake websites offering air tickets to South Korea.
The airline said on Monday that it has received a few complaints regarding this issue recently.
The complaints showed that a website, whose domain name is comparatively similar to that of Vietravel Airlines, opened the sale of tickets from Ho Chi Minh City to Gangwon in South Korea.
That website issued fake e-tickets to customers after they completed purchases.
However, Vietravel Airlines stated that the airline is not operating any route between Ho Chi Minh City and Gangwon.
The carrier warns that the operation of such fake websites, which are offering not only domestic and outbound flight tickets but also inbound ones, is rampant during the year-end season, when travel demand is strong.
It advises people to carefully check the domain names as scammers make fake websites look like the legitimate sites of airlines.
Vietravel Airlines’ official website is vietravelairlines.com.
Any wrong characters in the brand names and unusually cheap fare are also signs of fraud, which can lead to both loss of money and personal information leaks.
