One more section of the VND9.5 trillion (US$405 million) Ring Road 2, which is among the key infrastructure projects in Hanoi, has reached completion and is ready for operation.

The section, stretching 5.1km from Nga Tu So Intersection to the Vinh Tuy Bridge, is expected to be open to traffic on Wednesday.

The project also includes the expansion of a 3.1km-long section from Nga Tu Vong Intersection to the Vinh Tuy Bridge.

Construction of Hanoi's elevated Ring Road 2 started in April 2018, at a cost of nearly VND9.5 trillion.

It runs 43.6km to form an inner city traffic circle through Vinh Tuy - Minh Khai - Dai La - Nga Tu Vong - Truong Chinh - Nga Tu So - Lang - Cau Giay - Pomelo - Nhat Tan - Vinh Ngoc - Dong Hoi - Gia Lam underpass - Hanel Industrial Park - Vinh Tuy in the three districts of Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, and Hai Ba Trung.

The route was built by Vietnam’s leading private conglomerate Vingroup under a build-transfer format.

It is expected to reduce traffic congestion on downtown roads which are under pressure from heavy traffic in Hanoi.
