A giant banh xeo (Vietnamese sizzling cake) filled with 100 Nha Trang lobsters and a massive 1.6-metric-ton banh chung (square sticky rice cake) were served to visitors at the 12th Southern Folk Cake Festival in Can Tho City on Sunday morning.

The banh xeo, with a diameter of three meters and a circumference of 9.42 meters, featured a traditional filling of duck meat, carrots, mung beans, and various vegetables, topped with 100 lobsters from Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa Province.

The cake was prepared by 15 chefs from Can Tho City, Tien Giang Province, Vinh Long Province, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Le Thi Hong Dung, one of the chefs involved in making the giant banh xeo, noted that this was the second year the giant cake had been featured at the festival, with this year’s version being larger than last year’s and including the lobsters.

After being completed, the cake was cut into portions and distributed free of charge to festival attendees.
