Tran Kim Truong, a 14-year-old native of Binh Thuan Province in south-central Vietnam, is under investigation for allegedly stealing a 30-seater car and causing a traffic accident, marking the third car theft he has committed.
Early on Sunday morning, Truong stole the 30-seater car from a car garage located in Ham Liem Commune, Ham Thuan Bac District, Binh Thuan Province.
While Truong was driving the stolen car on National Highway 28 to the provincial capital city of Phan Thiet, he crashed into an advertising board and motorbikes parked on the sidewalk.
The boy fled the scene of the accident.
Local police checked the CCTV camera footage in the car garage and the surrounding areas and identified Truong as the culprit.
As of Tuesday afternoon, they managed to arrest him.
On March 20 this year, he stole a 3.5-metric-ton truck in Nha Trang City in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa and was arrested while taking the truck to the southern province of Dong Nai.
On April 3, he went on to steal a 1.2-metric-ton truck in Phong Nam Commune, Phan Thiet City and was seized after that.
Since he is a teenager, he was let out on bail, during which time he continued to steal cars.
