Vehicles will be banned from entering the Saigon River Tunnel, which connects Thu Duc City and District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, for six nights from May 20 to 26 as the tunnel will be temporarily closed for a periodic fire drill.
The closure will last from 7:45 pm to 11:00 pm every night during the period, according to an announcement released by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport on Thursday.
The firefighting drill is aimed at minimizing damage if a fire breaks out in the tunnel.
During the drill, vehicles running from District 1 to Thu Duc City can follow the alternative route of Vo Van Kiet Avenue – Ton Duc Thang Street – Thu Thiem 2 Bridge – To Huu Street – Mai Chi Tho Street.
