Authorities in central Vietnam’s Da Nang City on Friday broke ground on a VND1.2-trillion (nearly US$50 million) seaside road linking Lien Chieu Port and Hai Van Tunnel.
The capital for the project, which is slated for completion in 2025, will come from the city and state budgets.
The 2.96-kilometer-long road will feature six lanes and allow a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
The project is comprised of overpasses at intersections with the North-South rail link, Nguyen Van Cu Street, and Hai Van – Tuy Loan Bypass. It will also include constructing a bridge over a canal and two tunnels, and rebuilding the Lien Chieu Bridge.
Site clearance for the project is currently about 40 percent complete.

Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said that the road aims to effectively advance trading activities at Lien Chieu Port.
The road will shorten the transport time between the seaport and the road network, as well as boost connections between industrial parks in Da Nang and others areas in the central and Central Highlands regions.
