The administration of Tan Phu District in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday pulled down a house that had occupied the intersection between three streets for 10 years.
Following the district’s encouragement, the owner of the house at the intersection of Au Co, Luy Ban Bich, and Ba Van Streets agreed to hand over the property to the district for demolition, Nguyen Quoc Binh, vice-chairman of the Tan Phu District People’s Committee, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the same day.
After dismantling the house, the district will revitalize the area, Binh added.
The house, measuring some 30 square meters, was still located at the intersection after a project to expand Luy Ban Bich Street was completed in 2014.
It not only limited road users’ visibility but also caused traffic jams in the area.
In 2017, the house owner was offered a land lot in Tay Thanh Ward, Tan Phu District as compensation to hand over the house.
The district later allocated another land lot in Tan Thanh to the house owner.
The house owner agreed to hand over the house to the Tan Phu District authorities. |
The volume of vehicles passing through the intersection is large, especially during peak hours. |
The house was dismantled on September 25, 2023. |
The area will be revitalized to ensure traffic safety. |
