People living near the foot of the Kinh Thanh Da Bridge in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City are in misery as high tides have submerged their neighborhood, while an eroded embankment section in the area has yet to be repaired for over four months.
Some 200 meters of the embankment eroded four months ago and several embankment pillars have been inundated.
Water from the Saigon River has flowed into houses and streets near the embankment. Some houses have been submerged by over one meter.

Earlier, 15 households in the neighborhood had been evacuated to safer places.
Nguyen Thi Hoang, a 63-year-old resident, said water poured into her house whenever there are high tides.
“As the embankment section has eroded, water has entered the neighborhood faster,” Hoang noted, proposing local authorities repair the embankment soon.
