A Vietnamese cybersecurity expert has been honored among the top 30 outstanding chief security officers (CSO30) and also the top 100 chief information officers (CIO100) in the ASEAN and Hong Kong for 2023, as recently announced on the awards’ websites.
Both the annual CSO30 and CIO100 ASEAN Awards are aligned to the annual global award programs of U.S.-based Foundry, an organization that generates and innovates with data, to drive demand for technology marketers everywhere.
The only Vietnamese among the winners of the third CSO30 ASEAN Awards this year is Tran Phu Nghia, chief information security officer of Nova Group, a leading Vietnamese economic development and investment corporation based in Ho Chi Minh City, according to the CSO website.
This is the first time that a Vietnamese has been given this award that recognizes the top 30 cybersecurity leaders driving business value, demonstrating leadership, and influencing rapid change across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
Nghia is also on the ASEAN CIO100 Awards list, which recognizes the top 100 senior technology executives and teams in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
He is well known by cybersecurity communities as a speaker at forums of global technology giants such as IBM and Palo Alto Networks, with his presentations on cybersecurity in different fields including banking and information technology.
Having served as a venue for specialists on information technology and cybersecurity in the region for many years, the CSO30 Awards emphasizes the future vision of senior leaders in cybersecurity and a centralized governance framework to deal with the increasingly complex situation of cybersecurity attacks.
The CSO30 Awards celebrates the leading individuals and organizations delivering cybersecurity initiatives that demonstrate outstanding business value and leadership.
Candidates were judged based on cybersecurity initiatives introduced over the past two years that have helped change the way their business is protected.
In addition, they are evaluated on their level of collaboration with stakeholders to improve cybersecurity and resilience in their business operations.
The judges considered their contributions to the broader cybersecurity community beyond their organizations.
This year, the program received many nominations from cybersecurity leaders in markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
These leaders hold country, regional, and global roles within their respective organizations, while some are also responsible for security portfolios across their operations.
Meanwhile, the CIO ASEAN Awards 2023 saw candidates as tech leaders and teams represented across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
A select and independent CIO100 judging panel evaluated and rated all entries to determine the final list.
“The most powerful nominations provided real-world examples of where technology and digital chiefs are successfully providing value to organizations, driving innovation and leading teams,” according to the CIO website.
First launched in 2019 as CIO50 ASEAN Awards, the program raises the number of honorees to 75 in 2021, “in recognition of a wealth of standout submissions and a desire to showcase examples of best transformation practice across all regional markets and sectors,” the website said.
Last year, an additional 25 awards were added to the list to establish the CIO100 ASEAN Awards, which has sustained in 2023.
